Riots around the Rhine derby – kicker online

Ahead of the Rhine derby between 1 FC Köln and Borussia Mönchengladbach (0: 0), the two teams had made an effort to take the explosive nature of the game and prevent more riots. On Sunday, the police had their hands but then full. Overall, the police took 93 people into temporary custody and placed 22 criminal charges. Six people were slightly injured, including four policemen.

The first riots were before kick-off at 17.30 clock between rival fan groups. Against 14 clock so-called fans of both teams took to the Jahnwiesen at the stadium at each other.

One hour later met several hundred violent thugs on the Vorwiesen each other. According to police, tumultuous scenes took place. Officials of the riot police and the police squadron could separate the fan groups, with the support of federal agents. The departure of the fans went peacefully, however.

After the game, Borussia Mönchengladbach-trailers were driven in buses to Pulheim. In special trains they went on the journey home. The arrival in the afternoon was also expired under this new security concept. “The concept of the police to prevent major conflicts has paid off,” reported team leader Michael Temme. “The events but show that these violent offenders are influenced not by appeals before Undeterred, they are looking away from the sports action violence..”

Right sour responded Werner Spinner: “We have the whole week trouble given to provide for rest and then come 70 Batty Heini guerilla moderately through the forest. This is pure provocation, “said Cologne’s President was frustrated. “It annoys me,” he said aloud Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger.
