First doping cases at the World Championships in Athletics in Beijing – SPIEGEL ONLINE

Kenyan athletes have their next doping scandal: In the World Championships in Athletics in Beijing, the two runners Joyce Zakary and Koki Manunga tested positive for a banned substance. This has confirmed the IAAF. Both athletes were provisionally suspended from the competitions.

Kenyan media had previously reported that the two athletes tested positive after their heats. Zakary is the Kenyan record holder over 400 meters, to their semi-final race she entered on Tuesday no longer without giving reasons. Manunga was over 400 meters hurdles at the Second African Championships. In Beijing they are already retired after the heats.

The National Federation Athletics Kenya has recently fallen sharply in Erklärungsnot. Since 2012, more than 30 athletes were banned for doping, the figure is likely to be far higher.
