- The ARD documentary “Geheimsache Doping – In the shadow realm of athletics” unveiled a new doping scandal
- The nations affected react reflexively defensive.
- The World Anti-Doping Agency (Wada) is criticized.
Geoffrey Tarno was buried in his garden, his family is so every day reminds him. Tarno, 32, died in a marathon in Eldoret, Kenya. He wanted to run away poverty, like so many runners in Kenya, probably he was splashing the blood doping agent EPO until his heart collapsed. On the wooden cross on his grave is the date of death, 10.13.2013, before the word “Sunset”. Sunset
The scene is from the ARD documentation. “Geheimsache Doping – In the shadow realm of athletics.” Accordingly, the Kenyan running scene is eaten by doping of athletes who risk their lives as Tarno. And obviously in an unprecedented extent. The filmmakers have distended a record from which a massive suspicion can be derived: About every third medal, which was distributed 2001-2012 at the Olympics or World Championships in endurance disciplines, floats a cloud of doubt. These clouds are probably not forgiven until the World Cup in late August in Beijing. At the end of the film the blood expert Michael Ashenden says: “To me, it looks like that the Athletics in the same diabolical situation is like the cycling 20 years ago.”
Doping in athletics Every third medal suspected
A new ARD documentary shows how doping penetrates the endurance disciplines of athletics. In the center of the monstrous accusations is Kenya.
The film follows on from the first documentation of December, then unmasked the top runner Julia Stepanova and her husband a large-scale fraud network in the Russian Athletics. Now you meet old acquaintances, the 800-meter Olympic champion Marina Sawinowa, their heavily loaded coach Vladimir Kazarin. You get to know new protagonist, Anastasia Bazdirewa for example, a talent more than 800 meters. What they all cite while being secretly filmed. Doping is their fuel, they manipulate blithely, with EPO, growth hormone, anabolic steroids
If there is a doping test, are apparently from the National Anti-Doping Agency forewarned

For this time the images come from Kenya. The runners from the high plains of East Africa dominate the running scene for decades. The fact that they rely not only the gifts of nature, whispers the scene for a while. The search now assign too many actors in words and pictures of the fraud site: athletes, doctors, the Epo splash, the Association, at the free purchase runners when they are tested positive
In Kenya, they demonize the report. as “defamatory”, in Russia as “nonsense”
The largest find of ARD research but is a database of 12 000 blood tests, lifted from inside the World Athletics Federation IAAF. The Australian Michael Ashenden and Robin Parisotto, two experts in blood doping, these database analyzed independently. Set 1400 flashy Tests ago by 800 athletes of world champions, Olympic champions, World Cup and Olympic participants between 2001 and 2012. Striking means that the values were determined according to criteria of the biological passport and must be declared non-naturally. Every third medal, which was distributed in endurance disciplines, went to an athlete, in which the values ausschlugen once the suspects in the course of his career. Suspicious means that at least one of the two experts found at least one blood value, the doping suggests. Two thirds of these athletes were never prosecuted.
