Alba Berlin: Bamberg Berlin’s winning streak ended – Daily Mirror

17:57 clock

After 14 wins is the Nimbus there: Alba’s basketball team suffered at 69:98 in Bamberg first league defeat of the season. The prosecutor thus draws near to the league leaders.

Normally bring men in red and white at the Christmas holidays rants and surprising. Alba Berlin received on Boxing Day in the Baskets Bamberg proper packing, whom she met in content as surprising as unpleasant. The 98:69 (48:32) in Franconia was after 14 consecutive wins their first defeat in the Bundesliga this season. And the title against a direct competitor. The Bamberg Bayern Munich are also in the table, the closest rival of the leader. Alba was missing for the first time this season, the aggressiveness in defending against the red-white hosts, more than 70 percent hit rate usually safe conduct to the basket had.

Berlin captain Alex King spoke of a “disgrace” and a “disaster in all respects.”

The Bamberg had won this summer for the first time in four championships in a row no title. This provoked the Franks to a radical break with twelve discounts and access. They have a new coach with the Italian Andrea Trinchieri found a new manager they are looking for. What remains is only the intimidating atmosphere in Bamberg arena, which was again sold out with 6,800 spectators and including the sweet Christmas music that was recorded, nothing took threat scenario.

The Christmas Goose seemed to have tasted good, anyway, the use by the defensive. In defense work both teams covered initially a Verdauungspäuschen. In the early stages of the game looked like a Christmas game of the NBA: little defense, fast attacks, many statements from all conditions and a high hit rate. The first eleven shots hit the Bamberger, before Daniel Theis with an air ball fabricated the first missed shot. In particular, the agile Josh Duncan Berlin defender got initially not under control, the Americans scored eleven points in the first quarter alone. 16 it was at the end. Then took Bradley Wanamaker, a playmaker with the will to completion and scorer of the match with 21 points.

The best defense in the league was inexplicably passive

The Berlin defensive, actually the best defense in the league, showed a never seen this season passivity. Offensive Alba held initially with also good hit rates from near and middle distance connection. But the guests frittered too often in a single action. They were too impatient played their moves from not suppressed as soon as the path to the basket seemed even remotely free. And if they fit, they made some costly turnovers, just before the end of the first quarter, as Elias Harris after the 34 fast attack by dunking: scored 21 pause status. If so gone on one of the most spectacular early quarter of the Bundesliga this season, the final score would have 136. 84 gelautet

So it went no further, not exactly. Berliners succeeded in phases to force Bamberg in a slightly slower half-field game. But this was at the expense of some fouls. Alba’s coach Sasa Obradovic seethed unusual at first quietly to himself, but after a whistle he hopped like a kung fu fighter to the field and received a technical foul. Although Leon Radosevic sank his two points litters sure was with 18 points best Berlin. But he got a little help, but Marko Banic and Reggie Redding met only two digits with ten points.

And after Berlin turnovers it went quickly towards the own basket, the Bamberger joined unchallenged from my dunking. Ryan Thompson did before the break, at 48:32, and shortly after the break, at 61:38. After 25 minutes of game time Alba was constant back with more than 20 points. Only in the middle of the third quarter met the Berlin to their first three-point shot.

Two minutes before the end of Bamberg was even with 30 points in front. Four years ago, Alba has ever lost even with 51 points in Bamberg. Shortly after coach Luka Pavicevic had to go. The Sasa Obradovic sure not to fear after the first defeat. But Alba is not hurry away from the competition. Especially not Bamberg. (Tsp)
