After an initial investigation in the stadium Akinfejew was treated at the hospital, as a Russian spokesman said. The 28-year-old is said to have suffered burn injuries, but was conscious.
After the action, the referee stopped the game for 35 minutes, the match but then whistled again. Between the two Fanlagern there were repeated scuffles. Then in the second half there was a skirmish between the two teams. The Russian players left the field, the game was stopped early.
It was not the first incident in the ongoing European Championship qualifier. In October the match between Serbia and Albania had been discontinued. It was triggered by a remote control into the stadium guided drone of a banner with a picture of Greater Albania was attached. Then there were riots. The UEFA subsequently evaluated the game with 3: 0 for Serbia, but moved at the same time the hosts these three points again. Both associations were also subject to a fine of 100,000 euros.
