During the Endurance Championship a car is off the track and flew over the fence. A man was killed and another injured.

After a serious accident at the German Endurance Championship Nürburgring a spectator was killed. Two other spectators were injured in the accident, told the German Motorsport Association (DMSB).
The race car of the British Jann Mardenborough was off the track and flew over the safety limit the audience. The race was stopped immediately. Initial images as the car takes off with the start number 23 just before a curve, sets up virtually vertically into the air and then crashing into a guardrail. From there, the car was apparently thrown over the fence into the audience.
According to a joint press release from the Nürburgring Capricorn Society, the Red Cross rescue service and the police in Adenau an injured fan was flown by helicopter to a hospital. He should have but suffered no serious injuries. The accident pilot and another fan had been taken to hospital in Adenau. Ten other spectators were cared for emergency psychologically by the emergency service on site. According to the DMSB a fan was slightly injured, while another suffered bone fractures.
“We are deeply shocked and saddened by the events,” the team, according to police and the injured pilot said. The Nissan racing team spoke of a “tragedy”. The carmaker secured his full support in an investigation of the action. The crashed car was already ensured by the police and turned an appraiser.
The accident occurred in the “airport”, one of the fastest sections of the legendary Nordschleife. Where the sports car often reach speeds of more than 200 kilometers per hour in dry conditions such as on Saturday. In the 38-year history of the series, it had never before been accidents in which spectators were injured. The race organizers expressed their sympathy to those affected. In the paddock there was shortly after the accident also horror.
The Briton Mardenborough is considered talented racers. He began his career on the Nissan GT Academy, where about virtual car race on the computer skills of young drivers were tested. Mardenborough prevailed against thousands of opponents by and took a ride in endurance racing thereafter. For this season, he was awarded a contract with Nissan as a works driver in the World Endurance Championship.
Mardenborough had all the necessary licenses and approvals, it said. Given the first pictures he probably can not intervene when his car got under air and thereby took off. On policy consequences of the events of the DMSB will advise you in the coming days.
