Bundesliga: 1. FC Köln lost because hand-goal against Hannover 96 – THE WORLD

This goal will reverberate. One thing is certain. Not because it would have been especially nice, not at all. Not because it was so important that it was no doubt. But because it is so irregular liked how rarely drop goals in the Bundesliga.

It was the 38th minute in the match between – better at this point – 1. FC Köln and the second-bottom Hannover 96, as Hiroshi Kiyotake the ball entered for the guests per corner to the near post, where it was extended. Rear lurked freestanding Leon Andreasen – and tucked the ball with his right arm across the line of FC gate.

The Cologne players around the bewildered goalkeeper Timo Horn protested wildly, but referee Bastian Dankert maintained his (false) Ruling: The 1: 0 for Hannover 96 , it counted.

Goal scorer not even cheered looked but not caused Dankert pointing out his obvious handball. Instead ran Andreasen to his trainer Michael Frontzeck, both spoke briefly with each other. About what? “Tactical stuff” Frontzeck and Andreasen claimed. Not about the handball.

That it until the very end when 0: is remained more bitter for almost the entire game dominating 1. FC Köln: 1 (0: 1) , “I think we’ve all seen in the stadium, such as it was. As there are no two opinions. An irregular gate that has brought us to a point or even three today,” said Cologne’s goalkeeper Timo Horn.

Leon Andreasen itself was later visibly uncomfortable when he had to take on Sky position to the game-winning scene (“The thing you can whistle, of course”). He did not feel like it “something hits the arm. I’m also kind of a movement to the ball. By the fuss now it’s a bad feeling for me now. I’m normally a fair player”.

Whether he feel a sense of guilt? “I do not know,” stammered the 32-year old Dane, “I do not know how many times in the first few games what went wrong against us in Hannover. Mistakes happen halt. Today, I guess, the referee did not see that. I do not know why I stand here and apologize. ”

Jörg Schmadtke shook meanwhile on Sky microphone ironically smiling with his head. “We have done everything to create pressure,” the manager said about the variety Cologne attacks and chances (16: 8 Shots). “It’s a bit annoying – and now beautiful greeting to the DFB – that we had today handball referees here.”

He did so, how difficult the job the referee was. “But as things that people see 48.00, because I expect that the four men – who yes get money for it -. See also” Schmadtke sarcastically: “I wear reading glasses – but look far working properly.”

From a “dirty game” wanted 96 coach Frontzeck know nothing: “The I do not like the expression We are lucky winner, no question. . But we need not apologize, we take the points like with “

Frontzecks goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler admitted to the same question:”.. It was a dirty victory, clearly. ” But it is just not easy to pass away in Cologne. “We tried reinzuhauen everything goes. We had a bit a bit of luck.”

Especially Hannover had 96 lucky that referee Dankert and his assistants were not looking closely enough at the scene of the game. FC coach Peter Stöger stirred because even more the officials and the alleged lack of willingness to talk to because about Leon Andreasen’s behavior: “It’s not Andreasen job, display the hand” – especially in view of the situation in the Hannover location is located, said Stoeger .
