Figo criticized election process

Luis Figo also withdrew his candidacy for the office of FIFA President on 29 May. The former football star from Portugal declared in a personal statement which was published on Facebook, his decision. Figo criticized the electoral process as a vote for the power of a single man – “join something that I’m not ready”

“I have seen with my own eyes, as association presidents initially compared FIFA leaders with the devil -. And then, the next day on the stage, with Jesus Christ. That was not told me, I have experienced it myself. ” Blatter’s rival candidates were prevented from speaking at conferences, while the Swiss had been courted. “There has not been a single public debate,” complained Figo. It is hard to believe that Blatter had published no manifesto. “I will continue to be available as soon as evidence that FIFA is not a dictatorship.”

presidential election DFB still unclear about Fifa vote

Van Praag? Figo? al-Hussein? A week before the election of the FIFA President, the DFB is still undecided which candidate receives the vote of the German Federation. One thing is clear: incumbent Sepp Blatter will not be.

Common withdrawal

So only incumbent Joseph Blatter and the Jordanian Prince Ali Hussein remain for choice. The Dutchman Michael van Praag has previously announced his resignation on a candidacy for the top of the football world governing body.

Van Praag and Figo have apparently agreed on a common retreat to help by joining forces the Jordanian prince. The only remaining challenger then the reigning World Association leaders should land in the election at least a moderate success.
