Formula 1: Lewis Hamilton extended at Mercedes – SPIEGEL ONLINE

The renewal of Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes is perfect. This announced the team in Monaco. The two-time and reigning World Champion is equipped with a three-year contract. About performance-related bonus payments Hamilton will continue reportedly earn up to 37 million euros per year.

Hamilton was changed in 2013 as the successor to Michael Schumacher with the German factory team and won last year his second world title after 2008. Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg, 29, had extended his contract last year to three years and to earn around 18 million euros per year.

Hamilton leads the championship standings before the sixth race in Monaco with 111 points, ahead of Rosberg (91) and Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel (80) on. In Monte Carlo Hamilton had recently won the 2008 (practice, qualifying and race in the Livescores at SPIEGEL ONLINE) .
