Penalty controversy: Michael Zorc defended Sebastian Kehl – SPIEGEL ONLINE

Since the semi-finals of the German Cup between Bayern and Borussia Dortmund are now a few days passed, but the emotions are still not completely defined. Now Borussia Dortmund manager Michael Zorc has his captain Sebastian Kehl defended the penalty shoot-out after his statements. “He certainly did deride anyone, but was in the situation at best slightly euphoric. I know that he has great respect for the achievements of the players of FC Bayern,” Zorc told the “Bild” newspaper.

Kehl had advised the Bayern after the match to practice penalties. Philipp Lahm and Xabi Alonso had slipped in their shots and had clearly misses the target. The shot from Mario Götze had BVB keeper Mitchell Langerak parried, then Manuel Neuer had failed at the bar.

Bayern coach Josep Guardiola had countered Kehl ridicule by saying, “We have time to exercise, because we have already won the Bundesliga.” At the same time he gave Kehl advice: “If you have 35 points behind, it’s better not to talk.” These Zorc said: “While there are 37 points, but Sebastian Kehl is also 35 years old and 17 years of professional, he has never noticed in these years as unfair..”
